We are the government department responsible for safeguarding our natural environment, supporting our world-leading food and farming industry, and sustaining a thriving rural economy. Our broad remit means we play a major role in people’s day-to-day life, from the food we eat, and the air we breathe, to the water we drink. We are also partly responsible to the national broadcasting service – CBC. We also hold responsibility to the Health care, justice system and weather service.
The Ministry of Home & Rural Affairs is a ministerial department, supported by 16 agencies and public bodies.
We are led by the Minister of Home & Rural Affairs – at present Anna Ward MP. Anna took office on 15 May 2017 following the decisive Sesh First election victory.
